It was a near sweep for CBS this week. The network was on top of each of the reported ratings categories, except the A18-34 numbers, which it was just one tenth of a ratings point behind the other three major networks. CBS had eight of the top 10 most watched programs of the week, and a total of 16 shows in the top 30.
EXTANT was the most watched program of the week, grabbing just under 9.6 million viewers for the series premiere. That was better than UNDER THE DOME's draw was, two night's earlier. outside of the Saturday night programs, CBS' lowest rated show of the week, was the Thursday encore of EXTANT, ranking 47th. BIG BROTHER had the week's top three of the top A18-49 ratings, with Sunday's episode collecting a 2.2 rating.
NBC was the #2 network of the week, but tying CBS in the A18-49 ratings and equaling FOX and ABC in the A18-34 numbers. With AMERICA'S GOT TALENT not airing a new episode this week, the network only placed six shows in the top 30, and just one, an AGT repeat) in the top 10. The networks new sitcoms did not do well, placing below the top 50.
ABC had a nice surge on Sunday night to help it secure 3rd place, by itself. Both AFV and WIPEOUT drew their best numbers of the summer, with AFV repeat placing 14th on the week. ABC had just one top 10 show (THE BACHELORETTE) and only five shows in the top 30.
FOX is still looking for answers as it was 4th place in four of the five categories. Only it's two Monday night programs made the top 30 and just two other series made the top 50. the remainder of the FOX schedule ranked between 61st and 85th, for the week.
The CW is still struggling in the ratings. Only WHOSE LINE is finding a summer audience, even with repeat episodes. ION had an easy time getting more viewers, more than 50% more than the CW.
