Ratings Review: SUBURGATORY (Season Three)

Outside of THE MIDDLE and MODERN FAMILY, ABC has had little success with it's comedy development. SUBURGATORY is the typical sitcom ABC would deliver, and renew, in hopes of finding something close to a hit series, but ultimately fall short and cancelled after a short life.

Through the 13 episode season, SUBURGATORY did deliver consistent numbers. It's season premiere and season finale were almost identical. But, it was the lack of retention out of THE MIDDLE, after three seasons, that ultimately doomed the series. Self supporting life was needed for the series to continue, but it was found or developed.

For the season, which included five repeat episodes, SUBURGATORY averaged 4.95 million viewers and a 1.4 rating in Adults 18-49. ABC could have saved a lot of time and money if it had seen the signs, like most of us did, that SUBURGATORY would never be a hit. But, at least they saw the light, eventually.
