Ratings Review: KITCHEN NIGHTMARES (Spring 2014)

KITCHEN NIGHTMARES is usually a good Friday night filler for FOX, getting better than normal numbers on a night the network has historically struggled to get ratings. But with the night becoming even worse than usual, KITCHEN NIGHTMARES became more of a quick fix band-aid for a gaping wound.

With the eight episode season compacted into four weeks, FOX did dramatically improve it's ratings from the previous four weeks. Viewership and demo numbers nearly doubled over RAKE and the two sitcoms. But, almost anything would have been an improvement over those shows.

I have to wonder if the four week double shot episodes will comeback to haunt FOX and damage the series? It may be another full year before we see any new episodes of KITCHEN NIGHMARES. But, knowing FOX, bad programming choices will raise it's head, early, forcing another quick fix bey Ramsey.

For the season, KITCHEN NIGHTMARES averaged 2.81 million viewers and a 1.0 rating in Adults 18-49. Ramsey has so many shows on FOX, that even if NIGHTMARES is damaged by this season's scheduling, he still has three more, and counting, to fall back on.
