Preliminary Ratings: Tuesday 06/17/14
With the NBA playoffs done for another year, ABC fell back to reality, finishing third on the night. The network failed to draw three million viewers, with a new two hour EXTREME WEIGHT LOSS getting 2.9 million viewers and a 0.8 demo rating. A repeat of CELEBRITY WIFE SWAP did slightly worse, finishing last in it's time slot.
NBC was the class of the night with it's one-two punch of AMERICA'S GOT TALENT and the new medical drama, THE NIGHT SHIFT. Both programs pulled in similar numbers as last week, even though basketball was out of the picture. So far, THE NIGHT SHIFT may be the new hit series of this summer.
CBS did well with it's crime drama repeats, pulling a 0.9 demo rating across all three hours. The three shows were also in the top five of total viewers, joining the two NBC programs.
Thankfully FOX finally axed the two horrible reality shows RIOT and I WANT TO MARRY HARRY and replaced them with comedy repeats. FAMILY GUY, a double shot of BROOKLYN NINE - NINE and THE MINDY PROJECT combined for a much better night for FOX. Week-to-week, the night rose 14% in total viewership and 25% in the A18-49 ratings. FOX was still a 4th place network, but the embarrassment is a lot less now.
