TV News Roundup: May 29, 2014

It was a busy news Thursday as we learned the return date of an ABC burn-off series. Nielsen Research will increase it's sample size, and Netflix grabs another franchise.

DREAMWORKS DRAGONS Moving to Netflix:
TV animated series DRAGONS, spinoff of the movie HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON, will be moving new seasons of the series from Cartoon Network to Netflix. this is the third animated movie related series Neflix has bagged in the last year. It currently has a TURBO and PUSS IN BOOTS series.



READING RAINBOW Big on Kickstarter:
The former PBS kids series READING RAINBOW launched a Kickstarter earlier this week, by LeVar Burton, to revive the series for every child, everywhere. In less than two days, the campaign has collected over $2.4 million.



Nielsen to go Bigger:
Nielsen has stated that it will increase the sample sizes in it' 46 local markets by 30%. The largest markets will see the sample size increase by 300 new homes.



Vimeo Gets Scripted:
Online video site Vimeo is getting into the original programming game with the scripted series HIGH MAINTENANCE. A series about a pot dealer as he delivers to his customers. Vimeo web series will be available on a per-title bases, not a monthly subscription fee.



SONS OF ANARCHY Grabs the Beautiful People:
Sock rocker Marilyn Manson will have a recurring role on SONS OF ANARCHY's seventh and final season.



Hulu may Revive Low-Rated COMMUNITY:
Reports are coming out that Hulu is in talks to produce a sixth season of the low rated NBC comedy COMMUNITY. Just one question... Why??!!??



CHELSEA LATELY Has Set End Date:
It is official, the late night FX talk show CHELSEA LATELY will end on August 26th, after a seven year run.



THE ASSETS Burn-off:
ABC will burn-off the remaining six episodes of the quickly cancelled mid-season series THE ASSETS. The relaunch begins on Saturday, June 21st.
