TV News Roundup: May 27, 2014

The news is a little slow, the day after Memorial Day, but we have series cancellations, Online programming getting a boos and Netflix makes a deal for more content.

ESPN My Go OTT with MLS:
ESPN is considering going with an online subscription platform for it's Major League Soccer coverage, beginning next season. The network is looking at options to gain revenues from "cord cutters" without disrupting its relationships with the cable companies.



CBS Pulls Two Sitcoms from Lineup:
The two mid-season comedies FRIENDS WITH BETTER LIVES and BAD TEACHER have been pulled from the CBS line up and replaced with repeats of MOM and THE MILLERS, respectively. The move must be to give more exposure to the returning freshmen series, instead of poor performances in the ratings. FWBL was the highest rated program on CBS, Monday night, gaining 40% in the A18-49 ratings, from it's 2 BROKE GIRLS lead in.



Tennis Channel Goes Online:
The Tennis Channel is now live with it's online subscription service, by passing traditional pay TV outlets. The channel will have live streaming events, plus on-demand features available to subscribers.



Netflix to Get Sony Animated Pix:
Sony and Netflix signed and agreement for the streaming service to have the Pay-TV rights to the studio's animated movies. titles starting with CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS 2.
