Ratings Review: HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER (Season Nine)

I was a fan of this series from the very first episode. Back when ratings were a struggle to get and it's companion 8 p.m. sitcom was ever changing. HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER may not have been the next SEINFELD, but it was just as fun as the 90's mega-hit sitcom. Only time will tell if it has the longevity and"repeatability" as the show about nothing has.

HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER was the one true bright spot on CBS's Monday night schedule. One other comedy was gone before Halloween. 2 BROKE GIRLS was too weak to handle 9 p.m, and the 10 p.m. slot was a disaster. Hard to think this once bubble series became the rock of the network's Monday night line up.

For the final season of HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, it averaged 8.03 million viewers and a 3.0 rating in Adults 18-49, for the 26 airings, including 4 encore episodes. It looks like the spirit of the series will live on as CBS is developing a"spin-off" series HOW I MET YOUR DAD. Based on the mess Monday nights are, you have to believe HIMYD will get the former HIMYM time slot to help stabilize the night.
