Ratings Review: HELIX (Season One)

After mixed results in the re-imaged BATTLESTAR GALACTICA universe, Ron Moore gave us a new universe to enjoy. HELIX follows a CDC team in the Arctic investigating an outbreak that could decide the future of mankind. Sci-fi fans seem to enjoy what he has delivered.

HELIX is not the next BSG, but it did deliver relatively solid and consistent ratings, each Friday night, this past winter. SyFy has already renewed the series for another 13 episodes, scheduled for 2015.

For the season, HELIX averaged 1.33 million viewers and a 0.4 rating in Adults 18-49, for the twelve airings this season. Although we only have one night of post Live+Same Day ratings, it appears that a lot of viewers do watch the series after the air date. A network like SyFy, this is not a bad situation. Most of their revenue will come via subscriber fees from the cable companies. As long as viewers watch the their network, it does not matter WHEN they watch it.
