ABC rode THE OSCARS to the top of the weekly ratings, winning in every reported category. The second biggest TV event of the year drew it's best numbers in 10 years, with 43.7 million viewers and a 13.1 rating in Adults 18-49. For 4.5 hours of coverage of the Hollywood event, ABC over 35 million viewers.
ABC's win was a top heavy win with the Red Capet coverage and the awards presentation being the network's only top 15 shows. Of it's regular series, ABC pushed an additional 6 shows in the top 30, with GREY'S ANATOMY (#18) leading the way. But, it has been a tough year for the network and it will take ratings anyway it can.
CBS and NBC battled back and forth for the #2 spot. CBS took the higher spot in viewership, A25-54 and households. NBC pushed ahead in the two youger demographic categories.
NBC managed just four shows in the top 30, lead by three hours of THE VOICE. CBS captured 14 spots on the top 30 chart, more than any other network.
FOX was lost ground this past week, now that the three other BIG 4 networks were back in original episodes. Only AMERICAN IDOL placed in the top 40, with the Wednesday night edition finishing in the #14 spot. The network hopes to get back on track the week of March 10th as BONES returns and the new Thursday and Friday night schedules take affect.
The CW had a nice rise in the weekly averages, now that a majority of it's schedule is back in originals. ARROW was it's most watched program, while SUPERNATURAL was the best rated in the A18-49 category.
