Preliminary Ratings: February 12, 2014

AMERICAN was the only original competition for the Winter Olympics and the competition series did decent numbers against the Sochi games. AI brought in 11.4 million viewers and a 3.4 rating In adults 18-49. Currently this is the best numbers, in the A18-49 ratings, to be posted opposite the Olympics. AMERICAN IDOL only lost 15% in total viewers and 13% in the demo ratings, from last week.
The only other original program on the night was a burn-off episode of the ABC comedy SUPER FUN NIGHT. ABC let the original run in the mix of repeats all around it. Just 3.5 million viewers bothered to tune in to it.

Best alternate programming of the night goes to the CW for airing the classic mockumentary movie BEST IN SHOW. The Christopher Guest directed, scripted reality movie about competitors of a dog show, the night after The Westminster Dog Showed aired, is programming genius.
