Ratings: Broadcast Finals for December 12, 2013
With the heavy hyped musical special in the past, NBC was right back to low ratings on Thursday night. Not a single program made it over 5 million viewers and three of the four shows drew less than 4 million viewers. THE SING-OFF was the top show for the network, but those ratings look bad when compared to it's season premiere, on Monday night. It is down 2.8 million viewers and 48% in the A18-49 ratings.
CBS took the night, thanks to the huge numbers by THE BIG BANG THEORY. The Christmas episode collected 17.7 million viewers and a 5.1 demo rating. It has a good chance to be the #1 program of the week, after the NFL overrun on CBS, because SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL as a less than stellar matchup (Bengals vs Steelers).
The rest of the night for CBS was a mixed bag. Viewership was up, for the most part, but the demos were down. There may be a new wave of Nielsen families as the difference between this afternoon's preliminary ratings and this evening's final ratings, was pretty wide for most shows.
ABC's SCANDAL rose to the occasion as it drew 9.2 million viewers and a 3.2 demo rating. This is the best demo ratings this season, since the season premiere and is the third highest total in total viewers. Also, it was the #2 show of the night in that 18-49 demographic. Unfortunately for fans, It will be at least two and a half months for the next new episode.
REIGN, on the CW may be slowly growing into a viable series for the network. The gains, week-to-week, have not been big, but consistent growth in viewers is encouraging. Now, it just needs to push up the A18-49 numbers.
FOX stunk Thursday night. That's about all that needs to be said,
