Ratings: Broadcast Finals for December 5, 2013

Even if it was just for one night only, NBC had Must See TV back on Thursday night. The live production of THE SOUND OF MUSIC, starring Carrie Underwood, scored huge ratings, grabbing 18.5 million viewers and a 4.6 rating in Adults 18-49. The three hour special beat THE BIG BANG THEORY in total viewers, but came up short in the A18-49 ratings.  It is the biggest non-sports ratings the network has gotten on the night since the ER series finale, over 4 1/2 years ago.

Both FOX and The CW saw ratings drop against the mammoth NBC special. THE X FACTOR drew less than 5 million viewers and THE VAMPIRE DIARIES only drew 2.4 million viewers.

CBS did take a slight hit for the 8 p.m. comedies. BIG BANG was down 3.5 million viewers and a third a ratings point in the demo, from it's last original episode, two weeks earlier. THE MILLERS followed suit, losing 2.5 million viewers and four tenths of a ratings point.

ABC's GREY'S ANATOMY was down from it's last original episodes on November 21st. The veteran drama lost 1.5 million viewers and three tenths from the demographic ratings. But, SCANDAL, at 10 p.m., rose from it's last original, in the A18-49 ratings, by a tenth if a point.
