TV News Roundup: Week of October 28, 2013

CBS is looking at a 24 hour news service, a game show gets a host, Tina Fey back at NBC and Aereo launches another market.

MONDAY:
  • Craig Fergus becoming a game show host:
    A new game show CELEBRITY NAME GAME is being shopped around to be pared with FAMILY FUDE and late night talk show host Craig Ferguson has been selected to host the show. The project is schedule to start for the fall 2014 season. 
  • Netflix gets key CBS Corp. property:
    Netflix has secured all eight season of the the recently completed series DEXTER. The first four season are now available on the derives. The final four season will premiere on January 1, 2014.
TUESDAY:
  • From the obvious department:
    AMC announced it has renewed THE WALKING DEAD for a 5th season. 
  • CBS News looking to launch 24 hour news service:
    No real details have been released, but CBS is looking for distributors of the service and no launch date has been set, although mid-to late 2014 seems likely.
  • Denver next to get Aereo:
    If you live in the Denver, CO market, Aereo will begin its streaming service on Monday, November 4th.
  • John Larroquette cast in drama:
    The Emmy award winning actor John Larroquette has been cast in a recurring role in the new FOX sci-fi drama ALMOST HUMAN..
WEDNESDAY:
  • Univision Deportes starts Nielsen Reporting:
    The spanish Language sports network will begin reporting its TV ratings, starting with this week's programming. Look for the TV-Ahoic to pass along those numbers on a regular basis, as made available. 
THURSDAY:
  • NBC working with Tina Fey again:
    NBC has given a straight to series order for the untitled series from Tina Fey. The series will debut in the fall 2014 and is set to star Ellie Kemper.
  • Comcast adds more networks for Live mobile viewing:
    The cable giant has added 25 more networks to its live TV watching on mobile devices. You can now watch your favorite cabe channels, away from home, but, only with a wifi connection.
FRIDAY:
  • Season five premiere set for COUGAR TOWN:
    The fifth season premiere of the TBS comedy COUGAR TOWN has been set for January 7, 2014.
  • ABC cancels sitcom:
    Ina surprised and baffling move, ABC cancels BACK IN THE GAME, it best performing new sitcom. The network also announced the THE GOLDBERGS and THE TROPHY WIFE received full season orders, and SUPER FUN NIGHT will get more episodes. BACK IN THE GAME will finish outcits 13 episode order.
