TV News Roundup: Week of November 4, 2013

An epic mini-series get a remake, GetGlue has a new owner, new animation for FOX and Netflix gets super. This news and more in the Roundup.

MONDAY:
  • E! gets campy sitcom:
    Reruns of the campy sitcom SAVED BY THE BELL will begin airing on E! later this month.
  • TNT orders investigation series:
    TNT has ordered APB WITH TROY DUNN to series. This is a missing persons news/reality program format.
TUESDAY:
  • History remake:
    Cable network History, is developing a remake of the epic TV mini-series ROOTS.
  • CW developing another superhero series:
    It is still in the early stages, but The CW is looking at the DC Comics property HOURMAN as a possible new series. The network may also look giving the superhero FLASH its own series after a backdoor pilot appearance on ARROW, later this season.
WEDNESDAY:
  • i.TV buys GetGlue:
    One social TV network buys the other as i.TV purchases GetGlue. GetGlue should remain mostly the same, after the purchase is complete.
  • Aereo on Android:
    The streaming TV service has added support to its Android app to include those devices running 4.1 of the software.
  • More AMERICAN HORROR STORY:
    The FX anthology thriller has secured a fourth season (2014) pick up by the network.
  • PRIMETIME-WWYD to pinch hit:
    The summer news program PRIMETIME: WWYD will fill the remaining Tuesday at 10 p.m. slots left from canceling LUCKY 7 in September, until a new permanent replacement debuts in 2014.
THURSDAY:
  • Four new, original superhero TV series from Marvel:
    Netflix has worked a deal with Disney to order four new and original, live action TV series based on the characters Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. each hero will have their own series with a minimum 13 episode order. After this first season, Netflix will also air a mini-series with all four characters titled THE DEFENDERS.
FRIDAY:
  • BORDERTOWN gets 13 episode order:
    FOX has committed to 13 episodes of the new Seth McFarland animated series BORDERTOWN for the 2014-15 season
