Google looking at NFL games, Longmire gets 10 more, MSNBC says bye-bye to Alec, and Yahoo! says hello to Katie.

MONDAY:
  • Internet can handle NFL live streaming:
    Google chairman Eric Schmidt stated that the internet could handle the load of streaming NFL games to customers. The NFL Sunday Ticket, currently ran by DirectTV, will become available after the 2014 NFL season.
  • New line item on your Comcast bill:
    In January, Comcast will begin separating out a new line item in your bill for "Broadcast TV Fee." This will be a new charge and a clever way of the customer seeing the true affects of local/free TV stations rising retransmit ion fees on their bills.
  • LONGMIRE gets a 3rd season:
    A&E has renewed hit drama LONGMIRE for a 3rd, 10 episode season.
TUESDAY:
  • Bye-Bye Alec Baldwin:
    MSNBC cancels UP LATE WITH ALEC BALDWIN after is raged rant against a obscenity laced rant against a NTC photographer. His last show had only attracted less than 400k in viewers.
  • Katie Couric heads to Yahoo!:
    Beefing up its original content and news services, Yahoo! has struck a deal to bring Katie Couric on as Global Anchor, starting in early 2014. The daytime talk show KATIE will continue its production.
WEDNESDAY:
  • FilmOn X gets offensive:
    Video streaming service and Aereo competitor, FilmOn X, filed suit against an Illinois PBS affiliate to try and have the courts declare judgement that the service does not infringe copyrights. FilmOn X has been as unsuccessful in the courts as Aereo has been successful.
  • Comcast to buy Time-Warner Cable?:
    Comcast is looking at the possibility of buying TimeWarner Cable, in a deal that includes Charter Communications. The deal could give Comcast 1/3 of all US cable customers. Charter Communications involvement is to help ease federal regulators in aqusition. [LINK].

  • ATLANTIS gets renewed:
    BBC America has renewed the freshman series ATLANTIS for a second season.
