Ratings: Broadcast Finals for November 13, 2013
Four of the five broadcast networks saw significant ratings increases on Wednesday, over last week's numbers. Only ABC saw a major decrease, since it aired the popular CMA Awards last Wednesday.
CBS was the biggest gainer and swept the night in the ratings, lead by veteran crime procedural CRIMINAL MINDS. The network was up 1.3 million viewers and two tenths of a ratings point on the night. CRIMINAL MINDS saw a week-to-week jump of nearly two million viewers and 17% in the A18-49 ratings. All three programs saw their numbers rise.
On FOX, THE X FACTOR saw its ratings increase closer to normal levels. Over 1.3 million viewers returned to the competition series that had not been watching since its return after the baseball playoffs. FOX has to be breathing a little better today than it was last week.
The CW's ARROW jumpped over three million viewers this week, along with a 1.2 rating in Adults 18-49. That is a week-to-week gain of 10% in its viewers and 20% in the younger demographics. However, the new series THE TOMORROW PEOPLE did little over last week's numbers, with a net loss in the retention from ARROW.
Even NBC saw across the board gains Wednesday. REVOLUTION was up a tenth of a point in the demo ratings. LAW & ORDER: SVU gained 600k in viewership and also had a small bump in the A18-49 numbers. Even DATELINE gained over 600,000 in its viewership.
It is always good to see viewership go up for all the networks, but this appears to be more of a correction of how the ratings have gone the first week and a half of the sweeps period. Hopefully, the trend will continue through the rest of the week & month.
