Ratings Review: NBC Mondays - First 4 Weeks
Between THE VOICE and THE BLACKLIST, NBC pretty much is the #1 network in every measured category. Viewers, A18-49, A18-34, Men, Women and so on. But, because of THE VOICE, the gap between NBC and the other networks narrows as the season progresses.
THE VOICE is by far the #1 reality program on TV. It is excelling were and old AMERICAN IDOL and new THE X FACTOR have been failing. It has a freshness that those two are lacking.
THE VOICE is the #3 program (#4 if you count THE WALKING DEAD) in the A18-49 ratings each week, behind THE BIG BANG THEORY and SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL. Its four hours a week (now down to three), is the main reason NBC can be the #1 network from September through December. The only weakness the series has is it loses viewers as the season progresses. Instead of building toward a new winner, it limps in tho close the season. By late november, the Demo ratings could be in the low to mid-threes.
THE BLACKLIST is not just getting viewers on Mondays, it is one of the strongest series in the LIVE+3 ratings each week. It regularly pulls an addition 4+ million viewers and gains about 1.5 ratings points in the A18-49 numbers. The season premiere drew 18.3 million viewers and a 5.5 demo rating, when LIVE+7 figures are added in. Even with the great leaden support, THE BLACKLIST is the first true new hit of the young season.
The only concern I have about the series is that the Live_SD ratings have yet to level off. Each week, it losses a few more viewers and the demo rating drops one or two tenths of a point. but, the DVR ratings is showing a strong following for the series.
