Ratings Review: CAPTURE
The CW stepped up its original summer programming in 2013 and CAPTURE was one of the few bright spots on the network.
CAPTURE is a competition series, loosely based on the movie franchise THE HUNGER GAMES. Over 10 episodes, contestants live off the land, with a few rations from the production company. Twelve teams of two compete in two day cycles that lasted four hours each. Each week, one team was eliminated. The last surviving team wins $250k.
The series was one of the few to reach a million viewers for an episode. and was one of the higher rated programs for the CW during the summer. Over the ten episodes, CAPTURE averaged 840,000 viewers and a 0.3 rating in Adults 18-49. The network has not yet picked up the series for a second season, but I think the CW would be foolish NOT to give CAPTURE a second season. Even if it is just a small margin, whenever a series out performs 70% of the remaining CW line up, they need to keep it.
