Ratings: Broadcast Finals for October 17, 2013

Throw another show on the Bubble Machine. ONCE UPON A TIME IN WONDERLAND's second week was not very good. Pulling just 4.5 million viewers and a 1.2 rating in Adults 18-49, it had massive losses in the A18-49 ratings by nearly 30% and viewership by 1.2 million viewers, or -21%. The episode also placed 4th in the demo ratings, losing to the CW's THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, but just edging out the horrible NBC comedies. Like it or not, ABC will be announcing very soon that one of its new series will be cancelled. It is a toss up between OUATiW or BETRAYAL.

NBC had a bit of an uptick on Thursday every show, except THE MICHAEL J FOX SHOW had in increase in their A18-49 ratings. The ratings are still really bad, but having the night as a whole up, is always welcomed news.

Also seeing ratings go up was THE BIG BANG THEORY and THE MILLERS. Both comedies were up in both viewers and A18-49 ratings. The rise was needed by THE MILLERS to show some stability out of TBBT and that it earned the full season order it received by CBS today.

As we mentioned, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES beat ABC in the 8 PM hour as the series rose 18% in both measured categories, from the previous week. This caps off a week of mostly rising ratings for the CW, a week after most series had their premieres. A trend that the Big 4 networks did not experience.

Not all news was good for the CW as the series premiere of REIGN draws just under two million viewers and a 0.8 demo rating that is even with what an encore episode of THE ORIGINALS pulled in the time slot, last week. But, there is always next week by keeping the trend going with rising numbers in week #2.
