Ratings: Broadcast Finals for October 16, 2013
It was a tight Wednesday night with FOX, ABC and CBS all pulling in a 2.4 rating in Adults 18-49. NBC was a full ratings point back and CW increases its ratings from last week's premieres.
FOX was up on the night with game four of the ALCS. The game drew 8.1 million viewers and a decent 2.4 rating in Adults 18-49. That is about the same numbers the last primetime game of the series drew, on Sunday. Game #5 is to night and the series is tied 2-2. Expect a rise in the numbers with the series so close.
ABC got a boost in the numbers as the first TOY STORY TV speical aired in place of THE MIDDLE. TOY STORY OF TERROR collected 10.5 million viewers and a 3.1 demo rating. Well above the average numbers THE MIDDLE generated. This is a perfect example that ABC needs to further tap into the Disney catalog. Create quality series based on theatrical releases. AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. is a good first step, but give us more. I for one would love to see a TV series on THE INCREDIBLES or a SIMPSONS like series with the characters of Mickey Mouse.
The CW had a very nice increase from last week's premieres. ARROW increased viewership by 10% and the A18-49 ratings by 22%. More like the normal ratings the series got last season. New series THE TOMORROW PEOPLE did drop a bit, 150k in viewers and one tenth of a ratings point in the demo. All-in-all, a relatively good night for the CW.
CBS and NBC were pretty much at typical levels on the night. CBS wins the night in viewership and the A18-49 ratings, while NBC is last (of the Big 4) every hour of the night.
