Ratings: Broadcast Finals for October 1, 2013
In just one week, ABC's Tuesday night line up went from promising to awful. For the night, the network lost an average of 2.6 million viewers and a full ratings point (34%) in Adults 18-49. Every show in the line up lost 30%, or more, from last week's premiere.
Freshman drama LUCK 7 only collected 2.8 million viewers and a 0.7 rating in Adults 18-49. If it has not already happened, expect LUCKY 7 to be axed by the end of the week.
The biggest surprise is the erosion of AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D., on of the more anticipated new series of the season. The series lost 3.5 million viewers and 30% in the demo ratings, over last week. What was looking like a sure thing for ABC is now on the Bubble List.
The drop in the ratings did not stop at ABC, as FOX was also down on Tuesday night. Already down significantly from their premieres, two weeks earlier, all four comedies failed to draw at least 4 million viewers. NEW GIRL and THE MINDY PROJECT held up better than the two freshmen comedies, but THE MINDY PROJECT was already below 3 million viewers last week.
Winning the night in Adults 18-49, NBC posted a 3.9 average in the demographic ratings and had the #1 show of the night, THE VOICE, in total viewers and in the A18-49 ratings. Both THE VOICE and CHICAGO FIRE were down slightly from last week.
CBS did well last night, dropping only about 3% from last week. The network won all three hours in total viewers and #2 in the A18-49 ratings, every hour. CBS may not have as much "flash" as ABC or NBC does, but its strength is consistency and durability.
