CW Weekly Ratings: Sept 30 - Oct 4, 2013

The CW did what I like to call a "soft launch" of its 2013-14 TV season. We got 7 hours of original programming, plus a clips episode of its top performing series.

Kicking of their seasons, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES and its spin-off THE ORIGINALS  posted relatively decent numbers. TVD drew 2.6 million viewers and a 1.2 rating in Adults 18-49, beating NBC in demo ratings during the 8 p.m. hour. The numbers are down for the veteran vampier series, but  just about everything else on TV is too.

THE ORIGINALS  held on to 80% of its lead in audience, which is a good sign for the series. We will se this week how many will follow THE ORIGINALS to its regular time slot of 8 p.m. on Tuesday nights.

Four hours of the iHeart Radio Music Fest did about as expected. Averaging one million viewers, bettering what repeats would do in the slots.

For the week, The CW averaged 1.37 million viewers and a 0.52 rating in Adults 18-49. This should be the first week, since April, that the CW out performed ION-TV in the weekly network ratings.
