CW Weekly Ratings: October 7 - 11, 2013

The week of October os the official premiere week for the CW. Five of the networks ten fall series premiered during the week. THE VAMPIRE DIARIES and THE ORIGINALS both started a week earlier and America's NEXT TOP MODEL kicked off in August. REIGN and THE CARRIE DIARIES will start later this fall.

As with almost all of network TV, ratings are down, year-to-year. ARROW saw a loss of 1.5 million viewers from its series premiere, 52 weeks earlier. Mondays now look to be as weak as Fridays. It could be primed for WHOSE LINE? to take over one of the two spots at mid-season.

But the good news is that, so far, the two new series to premiere (THE ORIGINALS and THE TOMORROW PEOPLE) have had relatively solid numbers. It is something to build on for next year and the network can set the bar a little higher when renewing a series.

For the week, THE CW averaged 1.70 million viewers and a 0.68 rating in Adults 18-49. That is down  13% in total viewers and 15% in the demo ratings, from last year's premiere week (Week of Oct. 8, 2012).
