Complete Nielsen Ratings: Week of Sept. 23, 2013

The first week of the 2013-14 season is in the books. NBC jumps out to an early lead in all of the demographic ratings, while CBS captures the most total viewers, over the week.
As with the last few years, NBC's fall line up is heavily weighted by SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL and THE VOICE. The two programs make up 8+ hours, or over 1/3 of the programming each week. But, so far, NBC may have finally found a program that can take advantage of the great lead in THE VOICE can deliver. THE BLACKLIST came out strong on Monday night, holding a 85% of the audience. On Tuesday night, CHICAGO FIRE did decent holding onto THE VOICE viewers. It retained 65%.
CBS's premiere week was mixed. It did have the highest total viewer average during the week, but many shows are down over the previous year. With exception of HOWI MET YOUR MOTHER, Monday night are in big trouble. 2 BROKE GIRLS failed to crack a 3.0 mark in the demo ratings, plus MOM and HOSTAGES had ver soft premieres. On Tuesdays. PERSON OF INTEREST had a worse rating with its new 10 p.m. slot than VEGAS did one year earlier. Wednesdays saw CSI tie NASHVILLE in the A18-49 ratings, while the LAW & ORDER 2 hour premiere won at 10 p.m. With all that, CBS did capture half of the top 30 spots on the viewers chart.
ABC Did OK for its premiere week. It placed five shows in the top 30. Veterans DANCING WITH THE STARS (#10), MODERN FAMILY (#16), CASTLE (#18) and GREY'S ANATOMY (29) plus the new series AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. (#14).
FOX, getting a jump start on everyone else, only had six shows premiere this week. GLEE placed 60th and Friday night cooking competitions series MASTERCHEF JUNIOR placed in 68th. The Animation Domination block on Sunday night all placed below the #50 spot, but its strength is in the A18-49 ratings, of which FOX was second on the night. The only shows FOX placed in the top 30 were the NFL Overrun game on Sunday and THE OT, which followed right after the game.
Over all numbers; there were 23 programs that drew over 10 million viewers. Seven were above 15 million. Premiere week also produced 18 programs that pulled in a 3.0 demo ratings, or better. Ten drew a 4.0 or better.
