Ratings Review: MOTIVE (Season One)

Canadian import drama MOTIVE started out with decent numbers for its first summer season on ABC. It was collecting over five million viewers and a low one in the A18-49 ratings. But, a three week layoff for the NBA Finals may have lost any momentum the series may have had.

By the fourth episodes, the numbers had slipped below five million viewers and slowly got a little worse each week. The numbers perked up at the end of the run, climbing each week for the last three airings.

Motive aired 13 times, including one repeat episode, and averaged 4.72 million viewers and a 0.9 rating in Adults 18-49. The numbner may have needed to be a little stronger to guarantee a second summer on ABC. MOTIVE will air a second season in Canada, on CTV.
