Ratings: Broadcast Finals for September 16, 2013

We are still one week out from the "official" start of the 2013-14 TV season, but FOX and ABC kicked things off a little early.

We will start with the most watched program of the night, DANCING WITH THE STARS. for its two hours, it generated 16.0 million viewers and a 3.1 rating in Adults 18-49. That is good news to the network as lit represents a rise of two million viewers and 24% in the A18-49 ratings. We will see if scaling back to one night a week will keep the ratings strong, or if this is just another flop cast for the aged series.

FOX won the night in the A18-49 ratings, thanks to a very strong show by the new creepy drama series SLEEPY HOLLOW. The 10.1 million viewers was #3 on the night, but the 3.5 demo ratings was the top score of the night. HOLLOW also grew 30% out of its lead in BONES, a good sign for the series. Putting a "Sci-Fi" series back on the night was a good call by FOX. In recent years, show like TERA NOVE, ALCATRAZ, THE FOLLOWING and other have done weel. Only the drama THE MOB DOCTOR tanked.

Speaking of BONES, for its 9th season, it still has some drawing power, even if it is mostly in the older demographics. The 7.8 million viewers and 2.3 demo are on par from last year.

CBS also had a good night as the season finale if the hit summer drama UNDER THE DOME scored it best ratings since July 29th. It was up 2.3 million viewers and 35% in the demo ratings, from last week. But, as a reminder, UNDER THE DOME started at 10:30 p.m. because of US Tennis Open coverage ran into primetime.

Not all the news was good as NBC saw numbers mostly down. Quickly, MILLION SECOND QUIZ was off by 45% in viewers and 41% in the demo ratings. AMERICAN NINJA WARRIOR down 24% in viewers and two tenths of a ratings point in the A18-49 ratings. However SIBERIA only lost 3% in viewers.

CBS - 7.4 million viewers, 1.9 rating in Adults 18-49

CW - 0.5 million viewers, 0.2 rating in Adults 18-49

FOX - 8.9 million viewers, 2.9 rating in Adults 18-49

NBC - 3.1million viewers, 1.0 rating in Adults 18-49
