Complete Nielsen Ratings: Week of Sept. 9, 2013
The full Nielsen rankings and ratings from #1 to #91:
It was still two weeks from the official start of the 2013-14 season, but FOX decided to get a jump start on everyone, premiering the 3rd season of THE X FACTOR on Wednesday and Thursday. The series posted its worst season opener, drawing just 6.5 million viewers and a 2.2 rating in Adults 18-49, on Wednesday. The Thursday edition barely did better, pulling in 6.9 million viewers, but equalled the A18-49 ratings from the previous night. It may be a LONG season for FOX if THE X FACTOR can't do any better and AMERICAN IDOL not improving after last seasons free fall.
Orignal programming did well in the second to last week of the summer season. Fifteen of the top 20 programs were original programs, drawing 6 million viewers and above. The #1 program of the week was CBS late NFL game overrun, drawing in 26.4 million viewers in the first hour of primetime. In total CBS placed 16 programs in the top 30.
Week one of the nightly NBC game show MILLION SECOND QUIZ started off with decent ratings, but the sixth episode on friday, ratings went from 6.5 million viewers (#16) and a 1.7 demo rating, on Monday, to just 2.9 million viewers (#71) and a 0.6 demo rating. Week two should continue the downward trend and I really doubt MSQ will be back next summer. NBC finished the week with 9 programs in the top 30.
ABC only placed two program in the top 30, but it got very decent ratings out of the 2014 MISS AMERICA PAGEANT. The 8.6 million viewers and 2.0 rating in Adults 18-49 were the best the pageant has hauled in in nearly a decade. But, the last MISS AMERICA PAGEANT was this past January, on a Saturday night and TLC aired the pageant for a few years before that.
