Ratings Archives: Week of March 9, 1998
It is another typical week in the ratings for the 1997-98 season. NBC wins the week in the ratings, placing eight shows in the top 20. But, with "Must See TV" airing repeats, 60 MINUTES takes the #1 spot for CBS.
The newsmagazine drew 28.8 million viewers and a 19.4 household rating, defeating the #2 program, SEINFELD, by more than two full ratings points and three million viewers.
CBS had the two non-series, top 20 programs for the week. Sunday night movie, A FATHER FOR BRITTANY placed 14th with a 11.5 rating and nearly 16 million viewers. Earlier in the week, CBS presented the MISS USA PAGEANT, which collected 14.3 million viewers for a #20 finish.
CBS also began its annual coverage of March Madness on Thursday night. The most watched game was the late Sunday afternoon game, which ran over into prime time, hauling in 14.5 million viewers and a 10.1 rating.
