Ratings Review: GOLDEN BOY

Simply put, GOLDEN BOY was not the Golden Series CBS wanted and needed it to be. Like most CBS procedural series, it will get a decent viewer total, but the A18-49 ratings were not good from the start.

Originally slated for the Friday night at 9 p.m. slot, the series premiere was actually on Tuesday night at 10 p.m., giving a great lead in of NCIS and NCIS: LA. CBS thought the series might have legs and flipped GOLDEN BOY with VEGAS and the mid-season series would have the better slot. But, reality set in and the ratings did a nose dive. Only twice did an episode draw more viewers than the previous episode.

For the 13 episodes, GOLDEN BOY averaged 8.19 million viewers and a 1.4 rating in Adults 18-49. With the successful, but aging CBS line up, GOLDEN BOY has a slim chance at getting a second season. CBS gave it the best chance it could give it.
