With the NBA Finals behind us, ABC returned its regular summer line up and back to low ratings. The network finished third in total viewers and fourth in most key demographic ratings. ABC placed just three programs in this week's top 30, lead by THE BACHELORETTE at #9.
CBS finally stepped up to summer programming with the season premiere of BIG BROTHER and the surprise freshman hit UNDER THE DOME. UNDER THE DOME was the #1 program in both total viewers and in Adults 18-49, collecting 13.5 million and a 3.3 ratings, respectively. For the week, CBS was #1 in total viewership, Adults 25-54 and households. It finished in second place in the A18-49 ratings.
BIG BROTHER's premiere was down from last season, but in 2012 the premiere was an hour later, on a Thursday night and had THE BIG BANG THEORY as its lead in. It is still one of the better performing summer series on network TV, so it is not going anywhere soon.
CBS place a total of 17 program in the top 30 chart, including three episodes of THE BIG BANG THEORY, all in the top 10.
NBC battled with CBS for the top spot, finishing second in viewers, A18-34 and house holds. It tied with CBS in the A25-49 ratings and was the top net in the A18-49 ratings. NBC put seven program in the top 30, including the final game of the 2013 Stanley Cup Finals at #4.
FOX did not flucuate very much. The same three programs are in the top 30 (MASTERCHEF x2, and HELL'S KICHEN). However it was the #1 network in drawing young adults (A18-34), with a 1.1 rating.
ION rose week-to-week, while the CW saw a drop, including doubling up THE CW in the A18-49 ratings. What really hurt the CW's average was a double shot of burn-off CULT episodes on Friday, which pulled in only a 0.1 demo rating for each episode.
