Social TV Activity Chart for June 17, 2013
Sports programming does well on cable TV, while unscripted programming dominates the broadcast chart.
Lead by WWE RAW with over 323,000, three out of the five cable programs were sporting events. The last 2013 Stanley Cup final game on NBC Sports Network pulled in a nice 295k, topping Confederation Cup soccer, on ESPN. All remaining games in the Stanley Cup will air on NBC.
WWE RAW edged out THE VOICE as the top program of the day, by just a little over 4,000 social messages. THE VOICE is in its final week, so it should do well in the social media rankings, with only the NBA FINALS getting better results.
Following THE VOICE is the new singing competition series from NBC, THE WINNER IS... It managed just 10% of the social media exposure as its lead in. This is not a good sign for the new series, which is the type of program that needs social networking behind it to succeed.
