Ratings: Broadcast Finals for May 10, 2013
Friday night was a night of season and series finales, with ABC taking the A18-49 crown and CBS is tops in total viewers.
CBS had two finales, starting with VEGAS' series fianle at 9 p.m. The freshman drama. Drew 7.2 million viewers and a 0.9 rating in Adults 18-49. It won the hour in total viewers, but was a weak third place in th A18-49 ratings. It was the poor showings in the demo ratings that ultimately doomed the retro drama. It was a very good show. I watched it every week. But ratings are ratings, and that is how things fall.
After VEGAS, veteran cop drama BLUE BLOODS closed the season with 10.3 million viewers and a below average 1.1 demo rating. Like VGEAS, it wonf the hour in viewership, but was last in the demo race. Between a weak lead in and it being May, it is not that unusual to see below average numbers. The series will be back for the 2013-14 season.
NBC's FASHION STAR wrapped up its second season with dismal numbers. Just 2.4 million viewers and a 0.5 demo rating. FASHION STAR was tied as the least viewed program on the night, from the Big 4 networks and was the lowest rated show in the A18-49 ratings. What is more amazing is that, as of the last reports, NBC is still considering a possible third season of the ultra-low rated reality series. If NBC does renew it, it will be their lone bad move during the Upfron/renewal season.
FOX end the season on its two Friday night series. KITCHEN NIGHTMARES never drew big ratings, but as a cost effective series, it has done well at being a time slot filler for the night and was the networks best rated series on this dead viewing night.
TOUCH was finally put out of our misery. With such a high profile actor and first season success, the bottom completely dropped out of the series. It may be the lowest rated scripted program of the season, excluding The CW. But have no fear, Jack Is Back! Sutherland will reprise his 24 role next may in what FOX is calling an EVENT SERIES. Twelve episodes will tell the tale of 24 next summer.
