Ratings: Broadcast Finals for April 18, 2013
CBS may have been in all-repeats Thursday night, but THE BIG BANG THEORY showed exactly who it the top dog of the night. The dominate sitcom, in repeats, beat +American Idol in the 8 p.m. half hour, in the A18-49 demo ratings, 3.1 to 2.6, respectively. Even when you compare the full hour of AI to TBBT, the comedy still tops the singing program 3.1 to 3.0. +The Big Bang Theory had a second encore episode at 9 p.m. and it was the #1 program of the night in Adults 18-49, with a 3.3 rating.
CBS tied FOX on the night in total viewers (9.3 million), but was just edged out by FOX in the A18-49 ratings, 2.6 to 2.4. If CBS does not add a second hour of comedy to its line up next season, it will be missing a huge opportunity to further dominate the night.
NBC tested the waters with +Parks and Recreation in the 9 p.m. hour and the results were at typical NBC levels. The demo ratings were just 10% off from last week's numbers by THE OFFICE, but was nearly 50% behind the repeat episode of THE BIG BANG THEORY, airing opposite it. Even the 9:30 p.m. episode was 20% off, in the demo ratings, from a repeat of +2 Broke Girls.
+Hannibal dropped over 20% from last week's ratings. Not a good sign considering that it had a much better lead in this week, with PARKS & REC.
