Ratings Review: 30 ROCK

30 ROCK may have been the longest running, unsuccessful sitcom ever. It not just that it was never a hit. It was a ratings failure each and every season. The highest the series ever achieved in the total viewer season rankings was #69 in season three. Only twice did 30 ROCK not rank higher than #100 for the season (Seasons 3 & 4). And only twice did it average over 6 million viewers for a season (Season #2 - 6.5 million, season #3 - 7.5 million)

What 30 ROCK was, was a critical darling for NBC at a time when good ratings for any show were hard to come by. It won many Emmy and Golden Globe awards, including a record 22 nominations in 2009.

As you can see from the final season, it will end up being the worst rated season of the series. About 3.5 million viewers and a 1.2 average demo rating for the 2012-13 campaign. I never got the appeal that a small, yet vocal minority saw in this comedy. For me, this was the ultimate in unfunny comedy.
