Ratings: Broadcast Finals for March 13, 2013
AMERICAN IDOL dominates the night, with little competition, leading FOX to an easy win on the night. AMERICAN IDOL, representing half of all the original programming, posted 13.1 million viewers and a 3.8 demo rating. Based on the previous Wednesday, AI was up slightly in total viewership, but was flat in the A18-49 demo.
SURVIVOR also did well, gathering 9.9 million viewers and a 2.7 demo rating. That is up from last week and the top numbers for this edition of the series. CBS for the night was up 10% from last week, with the two dramas also in repeats.
NBC's WHITNEY, closing in on its season finale in two weeks, did not perform as well as the other original programs, or even repeat programs. Just 3.4 million viewers and a weak 1.2 demo rating is all the second year comedy could generate. That is down from the previous week by roughly 10%. WHITNEY looks to be a dead show, not getting a third season.
Lastly, THE NEIGHBORS was the lone ABC program airing original episodes last night (burn-off). Getting 4.7 million viewers and a 1.4 demo rating, it dropped 18% in both categories, from last week. THE NEIGHBORS may be a long shot to get a second season order, but it has defied logic by just making a full first season. This was my selection for "First to be cancelled."
