Ratings: Broadcast Finals for January 31, 2013
NBC ha a very rough night on night #1 of the 2013 February sweeps. Kicking things off was the series finale of 30 ROCK, "the longest running prime-time ratings flop in the history of television," as fellow ratings blogger, Son Of The Bronx, recently stated. It drew a dismal 4.9 million viewers and a 1.9 rating in Adults 18-49. For such a "beloved" show, very few tuned in to show the love.
Two episodes of THE OFFICE followed and generated 4.2 million viewers and a 2.0 demo rating for the hour. It is an understatement to say THE OFFICE is beyond its prime.
Closing the night for NBC was the heavily hyped and promoted drama DO NO HARM. At just 3.1 million viewers and a 0.9 demo rating, it is the lowest ever series premiere for a drama, from the Big 4 networks. Honestly, I wonder if we'll actually see another episode air on the network.
One last note on poor performances, GLEE lost over 60% of its lead in from AMERICAN IDOL. What should be a perfect companion to AI, is being totally rejected by its core audience. Time to move GLEE and help build NEW GIRL and another comedy on the night.
For the night...
CBS - 14.1 million viewers, 3.4 demo
FOX - 9.6 million viewers, 3.3 demo
ABC - 7.2 million viewers, 2.2 demo
NBC - 4.1 million viewers, 1.6 demo
CW - 2.1 million viewers, 1.0 demo
