Ratings Archives: Week of November 24, 1997

CBS continues to roll during the final three days of the November 1997 sweeps as it ties with NBC for the weekly win, with a 9.9 HH rating.

CBS took three of the top four spots with NBC's power Thursday night all in repeats. TV movie BORROWED HARTS was the week's most watched program with an 18.4 HH rating and 27.6 million viewers. 60 MINUTES and TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL finished 2nd and 4th, respectively for CBS.

Placing third for the week is the FOX special MAGIC'S BIGGEST SECRETS. Airing opposite of MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL, the special drew over 22 million viewers and a 15.0 HH rating. Rounding out the top five was a Tuesday edition of DATELINE, with 20 million viewers.

ABC was a distant third place in the weekly race with a 7.7 rating and the networks top offering was MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL at #7. In all ABC placed 6 shows in the top 20.

After the sweeps ended, Christmas movie filled the schedule. FromThursday to Sunday, a total of eight movies aired on the big 4 networks. The highest rated theatrical airing was NATIONAL LAMPOON'S CHRISTMAS VACATION, on NBC. Ranking 10th it drew 20 million viewers. in fact, between NBC, CBS and FOX at 9:00 p.m. on Sunday night, they drew a total of 66 million viewers.

The WB topped UPN in the small network wars. THE WB averaged a 2.8 rating, compared to UPN's 2.6 rating.
