Ratings Review: LAST RESORT
LAST RESORT may have had the best preview and series pilot of all the freshmen series for the 2012-13 season, however it was assigned the worst possible time slot by ABC, going up against the mega-hit comedy THE BIG BANG THEORY and TWO AND A HALF MEN, on CBS.The pilot episode ratings were not great, but were encouraging. 9.3 million viewers and a 2.2 demo rating. These similar numbers on Thursday night allowed SCANDAL to get a pick up of a second season by ABC. It stayed with in that "safe zone" ratings numbers until the first day of the November sweeps, on October 25th. On that night not only did it have to content with THE BIG BANG THEORY, but the World Series, Game #2, aired on FOX. LAST RESORT never recovered in the ratings.
ABC announced that LAST RESORT was cancelled on November 16, 2012, but would air the remaining 13 episode order. The final episode aired on January 24, 2013.
