Ratings: Broadcast Finals for January 28, 2013
It looks like FOX is back as a competitor on Monday nights with BONES posting season highs and THE FOLLOWING staying strong.
BONES collected its highest numbers of the season with 9.3 million viewers and a 2.6 demo rating. It is roughly around 10% above last week's ratings and easily 30% the season's average. Having a solid companion series at 9:00 p.m. is the key to the increased ratings.
Following BONES was THE FOLLOWING. The mid-season series posted the best numbers of the night with 10.1 million viewers and a 3.3 demo rating. That is just 4% down from last week's viewership ratings, but is up by 0.1 demo ratings point. It is looking like THE FOLLOWING will find life beyond May 2013, but lets not forget that ALCATRAZ posted similar numbers last year for the first few episodes.
DECEPTION is now officially on death watch. In its 4th outing, the NBC series, as the lone series airing an original episode in its time slot, lost too both CASTLE and HAWAII FIVE-0 repeats. Of course, I am not sure NBC has anything available to air in its place, but encore airings of anything else should produce the same results as DECEPTION.
As we mentioned, FOX took the night in both categories, posting 9.6 million viewers and a solid 2.9 demo rating. ABC finished second in both categories with 7.2 million viewers and a 2.1 demo rating. CBS out rated NBC in total viewership 6.8 million to 5.3 million, but NBC edged out CBS in the demo ratings 1.9 to 1.7. The CW, as always, was 5th at 1.1 million viewers and a 0.4 demo.
