Ratings Archives: Week of Oct. 27, 1997
Despite NBC's dominance, ABC won the week of October 27, 1997, lead by the TV movie BEFORE WOMEN HAD WINGS. The movie starred Ellen Bark in and Oprah Winfrey. The Sunday night movie pulled in 28 million viewers and a 23 huh share, ranking 3rd food the week.
ABC also found success in CINDERELLA, as part of its Sunday Disney movie block. The chart reads that the presentation drew over 34 million viewers, but I am guessing that is a typo. The real number must be around 24 million, as it ranked #4 for the week. Either way, this was a good kick off to the November sweeps for ABC.
Actually, NBC just barely edged out CBS for 2nd place, for the week. Between a few reruns before sweeps began on that Thursday and a very poor showing from their Sunday night movie, HOUSE OF FRANKENSTEIN, PT 1 (#44), it was an atypical week for the peacock network.
The top 20 consisted of 9 from NBC, 6 from ABC, 3 from CBS and 2 from FOX.
