Classic TV Raitings and Rankings: 1967-68

fter three seasons on top of the charts, BONANZA is no longer the #1 program on TV. The new champion on TV is THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW. The last year of this classic sitcom finished its series run on top of the charts, a feat only accomplished once before, by I LOVE LUCY. BONANZA dropped down to a tie for 4th place, with fellow western GUNSMOKE and family sitcom FAMILY AFFAIR.

Top new show for 1967-68 was GENTLE BEN, ranking 19th. It beat out such classic freshmen series like THE CAROL BURNETT SHOW and mid-season show ROWAN & MARTIN'S LAUGH-IN.

On the network level, CBS is still king, placing 17 programs on the chart, including the five of the top six, seven of the top ten, and 10 of the top 15. NBC easily placed second with 10 charting programs, including two NBC NIGHT AT THE MOVIES slots. ABC pretty much hit bottom with just four programs charting, with BEWITCHED leading the network at #11.
