Ratings: Broadcast Finals for September 30, 2012
Who knew a year a go that one of the hot and more stable show would be ONCE UPON A TIME. it drew 11.52 million viewers and an impressive 3.9 rating on Adults 18-49, second only to NFL football. And kudos to ABC for making a good move for once. The pairing of REVENGE with OUAT is nearly perfect.REVENGE lost just 14% of the audience form ONCE UPON A TIME's lead in and was second in its hour to SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL.
Not everything was good news for ABC. 666 PARK AVENUE dropped the ball at 10:00 p.m. It lost 30% of the viewers and 35% of the demo from 9:00 p.m. with drops like that, 666 is now on the early cancellation list.
FOX had a mixed Sunday as THE SIMPSONS did very well, nearly equaling last year's season premiere, but FAMILY GUY took a dramatic drop from last year. Year-to-year, FAMILY GUY was down 15% in total viewers and 20% in Adults 18-49. This is not good as when the fall is over, the ratings tend to go down for the Animation block.Needless to say, AMERICAN DAD and BOB'S BURGERS lost a chunk from each of their lead ins. FOX needs to find self generating companions to the two anchors. At this point, any two shows can do what BB and AD are doing.
CBS continued to struggle with its season premieres. THE AMAZING RACE was down 17% in the demo ratings, from last year's season premiere. THE GOOD WIFE dropped 28% from that lead in demo number. THE MENTALIST did what it could with the lead in it was given. It jumped 17% in the demo and 11% in total viewers. Over all, not a good night for CBS.
