Ratings: Broadcast Finals for October 17, 2012
Suburgatory had its season premiere, now in the lush post-MODERN FAMILY slot of 9:30 p.m. and it completely blew it. The sophomore series collected just 7.5 million viewers and a 2.8 rating in Adults 18-49. That equates to a drop of 39% in viewers and 40% in the demo ratings from that great MODERN FAMILY lead in. This verteran show may now be on life support and may not make it a full season.
Also not looking good for ABC was NASHVILLE, as it lost steam in week two. A 25% drop in total viewers and 29% in the demo spell trouble. It's only saving grace is that it also has CHICAGO FIRE in its time slot and that is not much competition.
Speaking of NBC, they officially announced today that ANIMAL PRACTICE will be taken off the air after its November 7th airing and will be replaced by WHITNEY, which was originally scheduled to air on Fridays. Coming in at 5th place two weeks in a row was enough for NBC. But, I am not sure WHITNEY will make much a difference.
The CW had another nice outing from ARROW as it jumped one spot to finish 3rd in the A18-49 demo ratings, ahead of the NBC comedies and up on MLB Rain Out filler BEN & KATE. ARROW only dropped 14% in viewers and was even in the demo to last week's series premiere.
CBS had a fairly stable and quiet night. It won the night in both categories, in all hours, except for CRIMINAL MINDS finishing 2nd in the demo for the 9:00 p.m. hour.
