Ratings: Broadcast Finals for October 11, 2012

It was an abbreviated schedule on Thursday as the VP Debate took over the four networks at 9:00 p.m., but that didn't stop The CW from premiering THE VAMPIRE DIARIES and the new series BEAUTY & THE BEAST.

THE VAMPIRE DIARIES performed well, drawing 3.18 million viewers and a solid 1.6 rating in Adults 18-49. And, for a second night in a row, NBC was dropped to 5th place with its pathetic combination of 30 ROCK and UP ALL NIGHT. The two "comedies" averaged a little over 3.1 million viewers and a 1.2 in the demo ratings for the 8:00 p.m. hour. THE VAMPIRE DIARIES even tied LAST RESORT for 3rd place in the demo ratings.

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST did decent numbers at 9:00 p.m. it gathered 2.8 million viewers, which is just 13% off from its lead in. The drop in the demo was a little more severe at 25% from TVD. So far, the CW has had a Jekyll & Hyde week. Monday and Tuesday were below 1 million viewers, but the past two nights have been over 3 million viewers. Unfortunately it looks like Fridays will finish closer to the early part of the week and not the latter.
