Ratings Review: NEW GIRL
NEW GIRL has done something for FOX that it has not had in quite a while. Develop a hit LIVE ACTION comedy.
It has been since THAT 70's SHOW since FOX has truly had a sitcom that could attract an audience. many have come an went, but the charm of Zooey Deschanel has won over America's heart.
NEW GIRL is a hit within the Adults 18-49 demographic, but its total viewership could use a boost. Early in its first season, NEW GIRL was attracting seven million viewers and a strong mid-three demo rating. By spring time, the demo is still relatively strong, mid to upper twos, but viewership dipped below six million.
Not seen in this chart, NEW GIRL was a consistent performer in the LIVE+7 ratings. It was getting boost in the 50% range. For instance, The November 1, 2011 airing posted 7.4 million viewers and a 3.6 demo rating. The LIVE+7 ratings, the numbers improved to 10.2 million viewers and a 5.1 demo rating.
NEW GIRL should see ratings similar to what it had its freshman season. but it will have an uphill battle as THE anchor of the night, with two new comedies and a struggling veteran series in RAISING HOPE.
