NBC's coverage of the XXX Summer Olympics is setting records. Most viewers for an opening ceremony. Best Saturday night ratings and is above the best average the summer games have pulled. I guess the "Tape Delay" issue was nothing more than media hype and jealousy.
40.65 million viewers tuned in to see London put on it best show, on a Friday night. And, when you can get 28 million viewers on a Saturday night, you know you the delayed broadcast issues is a non factor.
When you look at the chart, the best performing program from Friday night to Saturday night was 60MINUTES (#17) with 5.9 million viewers and BIG BROTHER (#16) with a 1.9 demo rating.
Well, it didn't even last as long as its name. After two episodes and less than one week, CBS smartly axed 3 from the schedule. It performed horrendously in its premiere on Thursday, despite having BIG BROTHER as a lead in. Just 2.3 million viewers kept the TV on at 10pm. Sunday, versus the Olympics, it only got worse for the dating series. Only 1.65 million people turned on their TVs to CBS at 9pm. I think they were hoping the GOOD WIFE would preempted, while in progress.
Speaking of bad. ABC also axed a summer show, TRUST US WITH YOUR LIFE. Without going up against the Olympics, it only drew 1.9 million viewers. You almost have to feel bad for ABC. Almost everything original this summer has tanked.
ION TV topped The CW once again in the weekly ratings. ION drew 1.04 million viewers to the CW's 620 thousand viewers. For the 2011-12 season, ION's average is still within 430,000 viewers to the CW's average. ION also topped the CW, with a 0.3 demo ratings. the CW produces a stagnate 0.2 rating.
