Remembering Andy Griffith

I just read that TV icon, Any Griffith , passed away today in his North Carolina home. He was the star of one of the best and beloved TV programs of all time, THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW.

It is THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW that he will always be remembered for. The series was more than just another sitcom, it was a reflection of the innocence that America was at the time. Not that America was innocent in the 1960's, but there were parts of the country, many parts of the country, that were just like Mayberry, no matter how small or big there community was. This was a show that had strong family values. That even a widowed sheriff needed a woman's touch to help raise his only son. That doing the right thing, no matter how difficult or humbling, is the correct path to take. Shivery was not dead in Mayberry. A woman was treated like a lady, always.

Andy Griffith was also known as MATLOCK, the country lawyer that always solved the mystery that the police could not solve. I was never a fan of MATLOCK. I only watch a few episodes, but Andy Griffith was very likeable in that series. No matter how few of episodes I had seen, that was a given.

My personal favorite series Andy Griffith stared in, after THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW, was the 1979 series, SALVAGE 1. I do not want to go into too much detail right now, but it was a great concept with a great pilot, but once it was a weekly series, it could not keep the high level of energy it captured in the pilot.

Andy Griffith will be greatly missed. Not only has television lost a great ambassador, but humanity lost a kind human being.
