Complete Nielsen Ratings: Week of 05/21/12

FOX wins the last week of the regular season behind the force that is AMERICAN IDOL.

With CBS in repeats for every night, except Saturday night, FOX sweeps the charts with wins in every category. The season finale of AMERICAN IDOL brought in 21.5 million viewers and a 6.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic. That was 4 million more viewers and more than 3.0 ratings points over the #2 program of the week, DANCING WITH THE STARS.

FOX had eight programs in the top 30, while #2 net, ABC, posted nine programs. Repeat filled CBS lead the pack with 10 programs in the top 30. NBC still struggles with only three programs in the top 30, two are the summer hit AMERICA'S GOT TALENT.

The summer programs are starting to roll out, with a mixture of success. Debuting this week was SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE with 6.3 million viewers and a solid 2.4 demo rating. Going head-to-head with SYTYCD is ABC's DUETS, which didn't do as well. The new singing competition series premiered with a 6.8 million viewers, but just a 1.7 demo rating. NBC's AMERICAN NINJA WARRIOR did well in its network debut with a solid 2.4 demo rating and 6.2 million viewers. ANW, with AGT, provides a very solid Monday night for NBC.

The summer season also brings even worse ratings for The CW.with only three of its 15 hours being original programming, the network fell below both Telemundo and ION, to place in 8th of the USA broadcaster. ION bested the CW by 38% in total viewers.
