Over the Weekend: April 6-8, 2012
In case you didn't hear, and based on the ratings, no one did, THE FINDER returned to the FOX schedule, but now on Fridays. The rookie adventure/drama series posted a less than stellar 1.1 demo rating (#3) and drew 3.92 million viewers (#4).
The best of Friday was the CBS line up. it averaged over 9 million viewers and a 1.7 demo rating.
Usually dead Saturday night was awaken by Moses and THE TEND COMMANDMENTS on ABC. The yearly Easter tradition of airing the Charlton Heston classic generated 6.9 million viewers and a very respectable 1.6 demo rating. The next closes program for the night (48 HOURS MYSTERY) was 2 million viewers and a 0.5 demo rating less.
COPS showed why it is being reduced to a periodic series on FOX as the two episodes only grabbed 3.3 million viewers and a 0.9 demo rating. NASCAR, UFC and MLB take over the night until mid summer, with exception of April 21st final AMERICA'S MOST WANTED special on FOX.
THE MASTERS golf tournament shined with its one hour overrun into primetime. with 17 million viewers and a 3.9 demo rating, it should place in the week's top ten, in both categories.
HARRY'S LAW still intrigues me. It was #5, in total viewers, out of 18 programs. But in the demo ratings it was tied for 13th place. It is easily NBC's second most watched series, behind THE VOICE, but when when it comes to the demo. It is in the bottom half of the network's offerings.
It would be hard for NBC to axe its 2nd most watched series, but if it was willing to commit to it, Saturdays would be a perfect fit for HARRY'S LAW and NBC might actually make money off of it.
