Complete Nielsen Ratings: Week of 04/09/12

If Saturday night is any indication, the FOX strategy of turning the night into Sports Night will be a successful one. The NASCAR race in Texas drew just under 7 million viewers and a 2.0 rating in the 18049 demographic. Compare that to the previous week's COPS/BONES encore, the night improved by over 125%, in both viewers and demo ratings. But, the real test will be eight MLB games from May to July.

Looking at the rankings of the viewers chart and you see ultimate domination by CBS. NCIS was the #1 program of the week (17.7 million) and the network took five of the top ten shows, 13 of the top 20.

One interesting thing about the total viewers chart that only TWO scripted non-CBS series placed in the top 20 programs. MODERN FAMILY (#11) and BODY OF PROOF (#15). The first NBC Scripted program is HARRY'S LAW (#28) with 8.3 million.

On the demo ratings side of the chart, AMERICAN IDOL takes both #1 and #2 positions. THE VOICE is showing it does not have the legs to compete against AI for the whole season as both editions placed fourth and sixth.

The top scripted series in the demo ratings was MODERN FAMILY (#3) with a 4.2 rating. For those calling to end TWO AND A HALF MEN, it was CBS' top show in the demo, ranking 5th with a 3.6 rating.

THE BIG BANG THEORY was in repeats this week, but that did not stop it from placing in the 20 with not just one, but two repeat episodes. As I stated earlier in the week, Its a BIG BANG THEORY world and we just live in it!

Summer has come a little early in the ION vs CW ratings battle. ION beat the CW in both households (790k vs 770k) and total viewers (1.02 million vs 0.97 million). the CW did edge ION in the demo ratings (0.4 vs 0.3)
